No Vacation plans?  Here are 5 Ways to pass the time!

No vacation plans this year? The ongoing pandemic has thrown a wrench in all of our plans, from the frequent flyer to the occasional traveller of the Caribbean, and this has left us with not much to do this vacation. Luckily, there are many ways that you can pass the time constructively at home while still having fun and making the most of it, and today we have brought you information on 5 of those ways so that you too can make the most of your vacation time at home.

Here are 5 ways that you can pass the time at home if you have no vacation plans:

1. Do online courses: Many schools have invested heavily in their digital courses and programmes in an effort to reach those who are now at home and who would now have the time necessary to embark on higher learning. These programmes can be done 100% online, and in some cases are completely FREE, with a wide range of learning tools designed to keep you engaged and challenged.

A good place to start is by checking the websites of top schools and Universities; they are known to offer free online short courses and certifications from time to time.

2. Increase your fitness: “I just don’t have the time!” is what we tell ourselves when the discussion turns to exercise and physical fitness. However as the pandemic has led to social distancing protocols and earlier closing times for stores and business places, now more than ever you have the time to get physically fit while at home. Don’t have equipment? No problem. There are many workouts centered around body weight that only require you to have an exercise mat and some space.

Thousands of body weight, home workout regimes exist online. Do a quick search online and find what best suits your fitness goals.

3. Read a great book, or 2: Reading a great book is a fantastic way to channel your energy and provides you with numerous benefits, such as building your vocabulary, reducing stress, alleviating depression and preventing cognitive decline. There are dozens of genres available to interest you; drama, science fiction, thrillers, horrors, and much much more for you to choose from.

Try something different this time by purchasing and reading a book from a genre that you normally do not read. The change might be good and you just might discover a new favourite genre.

4. Pick up a new hobby: Tired of your old hobbies? Now more than ever you have the time to try something new while you spend your vacation at home. Picking up new hobbies are great ways of keeping yourself occupied, staying mentally-focused, relieving stress and challenging yourself to improve. These new hobbies can even be done with your family and loved ones, and this can be a great way for the family to bond and spend time together.

Some hobbies you can consider while at home are: landscaping, learning a new language, starting a home garden, or learning to play an instrument.

5. Tackle a home improvement job: Have you been meaning to do some much needed renovation on your home but just never had the time? Now you do! Having no vacation plans means that you have more personal time, and your home is your castle, so what better time to make improvements? You can start by isolating a part of your home that needs improvement, whether a new paint job, some new shelves, or even a total overhaul and carefully plan how this improvement should be done. You should take into consideration the estimated amount of time the job should take, the tools you would need and any possible materials.

Once your plan is complete, gather what you need and get started!

These are just 5 ways that you can pass the time constructively at home if you have no vacation plans. Of course, you should not limit yourself to just these 5. Get creative and find different ways to do it!
