Guardian Group Foundation Gives Over $5M In Education Support For Back-To-School

Over $5 million in scholarships, grants, school supplies and book vouchers were disbursed by the Guardian Group Foundation to several students across the island in support of their back-to-school efforts for the new school year.

Among the recipients of financial aid from the Foundation are the top boy and girl of two policyholders of Guardian Life Limited who received scholarships valued at $250,000 each for the five years of high school. Three children of staff members who will be pursuing tertiary studies were also awarded scholarships valued at $300,000 each, for three years.

In addition, another 36 new scholarships and grants were disbursed to children of Guardian Life staff who recently sat the Grade Six Achievement Test (GSAT) and will be entering high school.

The Foundation also disbursed grants towards the tuition of 10 students from three primary schools in Kingston: Denham Town, Duhaney Park and Alpha.

Since 2005, Guardian Life Limited established a Grade Six Achievement Test (GSAT) Scholarship programme for the benefit of two children (one boy and one girl) of its policyholders. Since 2015, the programme has been expanded and the Guardian Group Foundation has been awarding these scholarships and grants. The scholarship selection process for the children of policyholders is administered by the Ministry of Education which selects the recipients from the list of applicants.
